The idea of the tour is to cover as much ground as possible to give a full impression of Riga and its suburbs. This is quite a challenging ride – there are many stops along the way but should be done by people who are used to riding for long periods of time. Showing you the areas that best describe the city’s history, focusing on Soviet, Imperial and Latvia’s 1st Republic, you will leave with a better understanding of the city and its development.

We will cover both sides of the Daugava River on this tour, so be prepared to see a lot!
Whilst Riga’s Old Town can easily be covered on foot, to get a full picture of Riga and to better understand what went into shaping this fantastic city, you need to get out of the Old Town and venture into its surrounding suburbs.
The focus is on Latvia’s recent history, from the time of the Russian Empire, through the first independence and soviet occupation up to their second independence. We’ll visit some major sites and monuments, as well as some lesser known ones, ride across the Daugava River to explore the quiet Pardaugava suburbs and see numerous wooden, art nouveau and soviet era buildings.
This is the perfect tour for those visitors with a keen interest in both bike riding, history and architecture, who will have no problems riding for 3 hours (Riga is perfectly flat) and want to leave Riga with an understanding of not only what a great city it is today, but how it came to be that way.
