Authentic Himalayan Food in Riga
If expensive designer interiors is not what you’re looking for in a restaurant, but it’s the food itself, this place might just be the best Asian joint in Riga. Run by a Nepalese family, Himalayan Kitchen(a direct translation from Latvian) is a breath of fresh air in the Central District that’s somewhat over saturated with generic sushi places and easily forgettable pan-Asian restaurant chains. Vegetarian friendly, large portions and unique recipes is what characterises Himalaju Virtuve.
During the weekdays Himalaju Virtuve have a lunch offer starting at a very moderate 3,80 EUR, but towards the evening it fills up with couples looking for a different type of Asian meal. Somewhere between Chinese and Indian, just like Nepal itself, the food here offers a great variety of flavours, many of which you won’t get anywhere else as some recipes used are chefs own creations. And if you leave this place without trying their Gulab jamun dessert, consider you’ve missed out big time.
