In 1910 Russian Empire was celebrating 200 years of their victories in Great Northern War against Sweden that Riga and Vidzeme province became part of Russian Empire. During this celebration Russian Czar Nicholas II visited Riga together with his family and chairman of the Council of Ministers Pyotr Stolypin.

Peter the Great was reigning when Russian Empire won Swedish Empire in Great Northern War and Riga became part of Russian Empire.
