Christmas bazaar at Town Hall Square in Riga Old town
If you’re looking for some fun things to do in Riga on Saturday the 5th, get in the holiday spirit and check out this Christmas market taking place on the Town Hall Square, right next to Riga’s Tourism info centre in the House of Blackheads. Organized by the International Women’s Club of Riga, this will be the 19th charity event where different vendors and the embassies based here in Latvia’s capital will participate in a unique experience to raise money for those in need.
Last year’s very successful bazaar saw 30 different countries take part and total sum raised exceeded 26 thousand Euros, later on being donated to various charities supporting orphanages, foster centres, the elderly and many others who truly could use this kind of help. Christmas is wildly regarded as a time of giving and many people here in Latvia will donate, even a small amount to different causes, here in the market, however, you can not only give, but also receive, meaning that the funds are raised by selling some crafts and items specific to each country participating, a good way how to find out what people all around the World get for Christmas.
IWCR’s organized market will start at 11:00 and go on until 16:00, and besides many arts and crafts, you’ll also have a great opportunity to buy products donated by both local and international companies like Latvian designed apparel Anna Led, Pure Foods, Haribo, Schwartzkopf and many more. In case you left home hungry, no need to worry as the food options will be as international as the craft’s section. So make a note, forget about supermarkets and malls, and spend your Saturday doing the best gift shopping you can.
