Once again, the weekend light festival Staro Rīga is about to return to the European Capital of Culture and bring video installations and other art projects to our city from 14th to 18th of November 2014.

Staro Riga has become an annual autumn festivity and this year it’s part of European Capital of Culture activities, so expectations are higher and to meet them it will be not only artists participating, but also the local people. This is the first year when the people of Rigan are asked to put light decorations in their windows or on their houses in a visible place, to take festival and it’s atmosphere to further neighborhoods outside the Central district.

This year we’re saying less is more and are going to have fewer installations, but higher artistic quality. Some of the best Latvian and international light and video installation artists will present their work, some of it unveiled for the first time, some travelled from light festivals in other cities.

Staro Riga’s closing day also happens to be Latvian Independence Day, so after 4 days of video projections we’re gonna wrap it all up with fireworks down by Daugava river. See you there!
