Friday 31st May to Sunday 2nd June

International Children’s Day ActivitiesThere are 3 days of activities happening in Riga to celebrate International Children’s Day. If you happen to be visiting the city this weekend with your children, then it might be worth checking out a few events that will keep the little ones happy.

Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd June

Folk Craft Fair @ the Open Air Museum: Get to Riga’s Open Air Ethnographic museum this weekend and you’ll be able to join in the 43rd annual Folk Applied Craft Fair. There will be singing and dancing by local groups, activities for kids and loads of food and of course crafts on sale. Get there using Bus Nr. 1 or by renting a bike and following the cycle path all the way out. Entrance 3 Ls. 9oo – 17oo.

Tonight in Riga

Thursday 30th May

Luca Ciarla Quartet @ KalnciemaThe Kalnciema Quarter’s summer series of concerts continues with the jazz quartet fronted by violinist and pianist Luca Ciarla from Italy. There will be food and drinks on offer and the open air stage provides a great location for an evening’s entertainment. Free. 19oo.

Barto @ NABA: There’s Russian Electro in Riga’s NABA Club tonight, when Russian Electropop duo Barto take the stage. Entrance 3Ls. 21oo.

Friday 31st May

Masha Era @ Total Dobže: If Thursday’s Electro at NABA is not enough, then there’s more! Friday, another Russian Electo group, Masha Era plays in Total Dobže. This great space in the VEF factory, just beyond central Riga, has a roof-top terrace, where the group will paly, accompanied by video by Valdimir Kakovkin.

Saturday 1st June

Mar Shy Sun @ Chomsky Bar: I’m not quite sure how to describe this one…. there’s synthesizers, guitar, vocal and rhythmic soundscapes… maybe just go and check it out for yourself.  Chosky is one of the city’s hidden gems, a scruffy, cheap little bar on the edge of the Central District, hard to find but worth it. Lāčplēša iela 68. 10:oo.
