Friday 24th May – Sunday 26th May
LatviaBeerFest: The 3rd Latvian Beer Festival takes place on Friday in Vermandarzs (Vermanes Gardens), just outside the Old Town of Riga. Some 36 brewers will be exhibiting their brews and there will be concerts, food and loads of drunk people. Entrance: 1Ls, beer not included.
Saturday 25th May
Pardaugava Festival: Something more wholesome than the beerfest takes place on the other side of the Daugava river, the 2013 Pardaugava Festival. This beautiful region of Riga, known as Pardaugava (literally across the Daugava) will have it’s first celebration in Arkadijas Park. There will be the standard workshops, concerts, food and crafts. A great excuse to venture across to this often ignored part of the city. All day all free.
Kalnciems Quarter Market: Once again, it’s market day in the Kalnciema Quarter. Combine a trip to this market with a visit to the Festival, and explore the quiet, green Pardaugava region. Rent a bike from us, and get lost in the small dirt streets and winding roads. There will be two bands playing in the evening. 10:00 -23:00 Free.
Berga Bazaars Market: Every second Saturday, The Berga Bazaar fills up with little local companies selling their homemade crafts and produce. Great for sampling local organic delicacies and picking up some souvenirs to take home. 10:00 – 15:00. Free
Bike Day in Kuldiga: This annual event takes place in the stunning city of Kludiga, around 2.5 hours from Riga. It’s a bit difficult to get to, especially with a bike, but definitely worth it; it is quite possibly the most beautiful ton in Latvia. As part of Kuldigas VeloDiena, there will be a whole heap of bike related events in the city, including a day ride and the exciting night ride through the countryside. We can provide you with a bike, and details how best to get to Kuldiga.
