Finally I had a day off and had the chance to visit the beach in Jurmala this autumn. Considering I missed the best part of the summer season running around Riga with our customers it seemed right that I could have a short break to the lovely Latvian coastline.
The Baltic coastline at Jurmala is perfect all year around. Autumn is especially nice when there are a lot less tourists and you have more space to feel free.
Instead of visiting Majori we went a little further down the coast towards Melluzi. A nice quieter part of Jurmala with less visitors and more space. Its easy to reach by train just 40 mins from the center of Riga.
If you are visiting Riga I can only urge you to escape the city and explore Latvia. Jurmala is close and will give you a taste of the Latvian landscape as you pass out of the city by train. In summer it is very busy and for quieter beaches it can be better to head north out of the city for more natural beaches.
