According to Mihails Hazans from the University of Latvia, talking on the Latvian State Television show 100. Pants, (yes its a strange name but it means 100th Article). He states that in 20 years the Latvian state will be heading for a demographic disaster.

According to his study, around 200,000 Latvians have emigrated from Latvia in the last 10 years, with around 80,000 heading to Britain, between 28,000-34,000 leaving to Ireland and around 11,000-13,000 moving to Nordic region.

The professor also points out that he believes that state figures are incorrect, pointing to the fact that any future plans for the Republic of Latvia may be distorted and could affect a number of different areas of development.
